At AEDC, we’ve rolled out an automated Token Identifier (TID) Rollover to ensure your meter remains secure and efficient. This essential update will help you avoid any disruptions in your electricity supply.

The TID Rollover is a global standard procedure aimed at enhancing the security and performance of prepaid meters.
Imagine your prepaid meter as your trusty smartphone that needs a software update to stay secure and perform at its best. Just like updating your phone keeps it running smoothly, the Token Identifier (TID) Rollover does the same for your meter. It’s all about ensuring your electricity meter stays safe, accurate and reliable, giving you the right info on your energy use.
The software in some prepaid meters, even here in Nigeria, is due for an upgrade. If we don’t update all meters in AEDC’s network, they won’t be able to accept energy tokens after November 24th, 2024. That’s why it’s crucial to get this done in time!
We’re here to make sure this update is hassle-free for you. Just like you follow simple steps to update your phone, we’ll walk you through updating your meter.
Here’s how to get started:

  1. Check your eligibility for the TID rollover or retrieve your Key Change Token (KCT) at map.abujaelectricity.com/checkmeter. If your meter is not eligible, you will have to apply for a new meter. AEDC will reimburse you for the cost of the meter over time. If your meter is eligible, proceed to steps 2 and 3.

 

  1. Previously purchased or old energy tokens must be loaded into the meter before inputting the KCT token otherwise any unused token will be rejected by the meter.

 

  1. On your meter, enter the two KCT (KC1 & KC2) one at a time, then the 3rd token, which is your energy credit token and your meter update is complete
