Jos Electricity Distribution Warns of Power Outage in Makurdi
he management of Jos Electricity Distribution said there would be power outage in Makurdi, the Benue capital, on Tuesday to enable them to carry out repair works.
The 33KV electricity tower, which supplies power to Makurdi, was recently vandalised.
This is contained in a statement by JED spokesman Adakole Elijah in Makurdi on Friday.
He said the outage would enable the technical team to fix the tilted tower near the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority in Makurdi.
“Feeders that will be affected are 33kV Barracks Road and North Bank. The outage is expected to commence from 9:00 a.m., and power will be restored as soon as the work is completed,” Mr Elijah stated.

FG Seeks More Private Investment In Power Sector
The federal government has called for more private investment in the power sector to bring stability to electricity supply in the country.
The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, who made the call during a press briefing for the Nigerian Energy Conference, said the 2023 Electricity Act has opened new frontiers for the provision of power and encourages collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Represented by the Director, Investment and Sector Development of the ministry, Evangeline Olumoroti Babalola, he said, “The Federal Ministry of Power has for several years supported the efforts of Informa Markets to attract more investors into the sector.

EEDC Explains Why There is Power Outage in Anambra
The management of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, has explained the reason for the power outage in Awka and the environment for days.
Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, stated this in a press release to the media.

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers in Awka, Anambra State, that the power outage currently being experienced is due to the loss of supply from its source of power at TCN Station, Onitsha, at about 6:53 pm, yesterday.

Ogun Residents Nab Suspect Vandalising N779,000 Electric Cable
The residents of Ojo Street in the Aregbe area of Abeokuta South, Ogun State, have nabbed one Oduwole Abayomi vandalising an electric cable worth N779,000 on August 22, 2023.
The 32-year-old suspect was said to have entered a compound belonging to Adeyemi Olukayode and vandalised some newly installed electric cables in the house.
While the suspect was carrying out the act, PUNCH Metro gathered that some residents of the community had sighted him while scaling over the fence to gain entrance into the compound.
A source in the community who did not want to be mentioned because he was not authorized to speak for the community said the residents jointly pursued the suspect when he came out with a sack after some minutes.
